Glittering Designs Highlight Hong Kong Watch and Clock Fair
Trend-Setting Brand Name Gallery Sets New Exhibitor Record

Hong Kong is now the second largest watch and clock exporter in the world, Hong Kong companies must differentiate their products from competitor in terms of quality and design, spoke the Hon John Tsang at the Hong Kong Watch and Clock Fair open ceremony.

Sept 5, 2007 - The Hong Kong Watch and Clock Fair, the largest fair of its kind in the world, opened today and continues through Sept 9 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).

The show this year has attracted 800 exhibitors from 18 countries and regions, including Hong Kong, Canada, the Chinese mainland, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Korea, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States. The Chinese mainland, Korea and Taiwan will feature group pavilions.

The Hong Kong watch industry is enjoying glittering growth, said Fair Organising Committee Co-Chairman Jerry Tsang, speaking at the open ceremony. "In the first seven months of this year, Hong Kong watch and clock exports increased by 4.5 per cent, to US$3.4 billion (HK$26.4 billion). Such numbers underline the industry's competitive edge, its international reputation for speedy response, consistent quality and reasonable price," Mr Tsang said.

"This year's fair spotlights a timely spectrum of watches and clocks, parts and components, packaging materials and equipment and machinery. The premium section Brand Name Gallery includes 113 brands represented by 87 companies from 15 countries and regions, nearly 18 per cent more than last year and the highest brand total since the gallery was established in 2000," said Fair Organising Committee Co-Chairman Bob Wai. Brands featured at the premium zone include Hong Kong brands such as JACQUES FAREL and ROYAL LONDON; France's ELITE MODELS' FASHION and THIERRY MUGLER; Italy's GF FERRÈ and LOTTO; UAE's Daniel Hechter; the US's STUHGLING; Korea's Romanson; and Switzerland's
